UFA Awarded AFWERX SBIR Phase II Contract for its ATLIVE MultiTouch Simulator for Air Traffic Control Training

Burlington, MA, October 7, 2024 – UFA, Inc. is pleased to announce it has been selected by AFWERX for a $1.1M Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract to enhance Air Traffic Control Training and Simulation for Multi-Capable Airmen (MCA).

Current statistics reveal that USAF air traffic controllers are 39% undermanned with an alarming attrition rate of 24.4%. Moreover, existing training simulations fail to replicate the non-standard air traffic services crucial in Agile Combat Employment (ACE) schemes of maneuver. Air superiority, a cornerstone of modern warfare strategy, is dependent on well-trained air traffic controllers who ensure safety and efficiency in airfield operations as a weapons launching platform for both in garrison and Landing Zone (LZ) operations.

ATLIVE is poised to meet this challenge with its superior technology leveraging advanced voice recognition, data analytics, a high-fidelity multi-touch display, and the ability to rewind, rewatch, and relaunch training events without administrative access or instructor intervention.

"In today’s rapidly evolving defense landscape, maintaining air superiority is paramount. This award underscores the Air Force's commitment to leveraging advanced training technologies to address critical operational needs. We are proud to partner with the Air Force to ensure our air traffic controllers are equipped with the best tools available to enhance their skills and readiness,"said David Wolff, CEO, UFA, Inc.
